Jakub Vrana is a 20-goal scorer.
With a nifty wrist shot rush goal in the first period of Tuesday’s Caps-Pens game, Vrana has hit the twenty mark for the first time in his so-young-it-still-has-baby-fat career.
To commemorate the milestone, Vrana added goal number 21.
Scoreless in a tight first period, the Backstrom line charged up the ice with possession. Vrana and Backstrom exchanged the puck as they entered the Pittsburgh zone as Oshie rushed Matt Murray’s net. As he reached the top of the faceoff dot, Vrana settled the puck and unleashed a wristshot.

Vrana’s second goal of the game was a weird one, coming halfway into the second period. Vrana, again on the rush, made smart and simple play, putting the puck on net and into a crowd of Penguins uniforms. Matt Murray blocked the shot, but the puck popped up and over the goalie’s back to make it, for at least a few minutes, 2-0.
You hate to see it, folks.
Vrana becomes the third Caps player with 20 goals this season, behind Alex Ovechkin and TJ Oshie. Tom Wilson, who has 19, may join them soon.
