Amid the rumors circulating that the Capitals have asked for several mid to high draft picks in exchange for winger Andre Burakovsky, it appears he’ll get another shot at finding his scoring touch.
At the morning skate before their bout with the Colorado Avalanche Thursday night, Burkie was promoted to the third line with Brett Connolly and Lars Eller.
Burakovsky has been skating on the fourth line for five games, which started with the Caps last-second overtime loss against the San Jose Sharks. He scored one goal in that game against the Sharks but has been pointless since.

Pheonix Copley will get his first action in net in six games.
When asked about Burakovsky’s performance this season and what the Caps might do at the trade deadline, general manager Brian MacLellan said he saw glimpses of Burakovsky’s success, but that consistency is what he wants.
“I want him to do well,” MacLellan told Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post. “He’s a good young player. He’s got upside. We’ve all seen it where he’s played in the playoffs in a top-six role and played well. That’s the player we want to have here. We still have two more years of rights on him and we’re hoping that he gets back to that level as soon as we can get him there.”
Burakovsky has six goals and six assists in 47 games.
