Tuesday night, the Capitals snagged their first preseason win against the St. Louis Blues with a 4-0 victory.

Shane Gersich contributed with a quick snipe of his own to open the scoring, but he also attempted a nifty spin-o-rama move against Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo, a forward playing as a defenseman.

Pietrangelo wasn’t pleased with the rookie’s dangles, and he took Gersich hard to the boards after the play.

NBC Sports Washington’s Craig Laughlin was impressed with Gersich’s moves.

“Gersich has those wonderful wheels. He can spin on a top,” Laughlin said. “To me, I’ve played with some guys that could do that. One of the best I’ve ever seen was a teammate of mine: Kelly Miller, who could go forehand, backhand. I’ve seen Gersich before on highlights do that in the college ranks to score the game winner.”

To refresh everyone’s memory on the goal Laughlin is mentioning, this is Gersich’s second spin-o-rama attempt. The first time he tried it was two years ago against the University of Denver during three on three over time.

The goal was so filthy it ended up on SportsCenter.
