Evgeny Kuznetsov recorded his 37th assist and his 15th goal in the first period of Friday’s game against the Blue Jackets. The goal came within seconds of Kuznetsov getting sprung from the joint after doing a stint in the clink for roughing up some stoolpigeon.

John Carlson beat Sergei Bobrovsky on the first shot of the game, served up on a platter by number 92.
With just over two minutes left in the frame, Kuznetsov was penalized for tying up Lumbus winger Oliver Bjorkstrand. That makes an even twenty penalties for Kuznetsov, more than any other Caps except for Tom Wilson.
In the box Kuznetsov toiled for 120 seconds, but just six seconds after his release he struck – picking up a rebound from Lars Eller after Matt Niskanen put the puck on net.
I don’t think I could even make it from the box to the net in six seconds, let alone score.
