The Caps visited Columbus on Tuesday evening to play a Metro matchup against the Blue Jackets.
David Savard started the scoring just a couple minutes into the game to give Columbus an early lead. Before the game was even five minutes old, John Carlson scored a power play goal to tie things up at one.
A few minutes into the second, Tom Wilson finished off a rush on which every Caps skater on the ice touched the puck, putting the Caps up 2-1. The second period ended this way, thanks to an outstanding performance from Braden Holtby.
The Caps had a big penalty kill with about eight minutes left and successfully killed it off. But just seconds later, Brandon Dubinsky tied the game up at two. With 42 seconds left, Nick Backstrom banged one home to put the Caps on top.
Caps win 3-2.
