The Hershey Bears’ Outdoor Classic, Saturday, is approaching fast. The Bears practiced on the Hersheypark Stadium ice today, as well as hosting a family skate.
Goalies Vitek Vanecek and Pheonix Copley showed off their new masks for the Outdoor Classic. Other players donned sunglasses to help with glare on the ice.

The Bears practiced on the outdoor rink to get ready for Saturday’s game. Like Karl Alzner famously did in the 2015 Winter Classic, many Bears wore sunglasses to increase visibility on the ice, even including Vanecek.

One more shot: I had a few extra pairs of sunglasses in my car. Troy Mann got one pair (Baltimore Orioles-themed) and Travis Boyd got…well, he got these red ones. pic.twitter.com/bBoXONarPi

Loved Vitek in the sunglasses today. I believe he took them from Mason Mitchell. Lots of photos coming soon pic.twitter.com/lJj6HPA8ZC

Vanecek and Copley each broke in brand new goalie masks, each one designed specifically for the Outdoor Classic.

Both masks feature the Outdoor Classic logo as well as the classic Bears alternate logo. Vanecek’s has the Hershey wordmark logo across the top, while Copley’s number, 31, is painted on his.

Like Copley’s other masks, this one is finished off with his traditional candy canes. These pay tribute to his hometown of North Pole, Alaska.

The Bears take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday in the Capital Blue Cross Outdoor Classic. The puck drops at 7 PM at Hersheypark Stadium.
We can’t contain our excitement for the @capbluecross #OutdoorClassic !!
